Asks for a reported change in knowledge, attitude, behavior or condition.

Instruments for youth development
  • Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale Public domain 10 items, about 2-3 min

License: “freely available; permission not required for use.”

EN; Chinese. Measures global self-esteem, not mentoring quality or employment readiness.

    Form
  • General Self-Efficacy Scale, Schwarzer/Jerusalem Free, with conditions 10 items, about 4 min

License: “permission to use and reproduce the General Self-Efficacy Scale for your study”

EN; extensive translations. The author's permission explicitly addresses research studies; do not represent it as unrestricted permission for a commercial product.

    Form
  • Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) Free, with conditions 25 core items, about 5-10 min

License: “Paper copies "without charge by individuals or non-profit organisations," subject to the owner's conditions. Electronic reproduction requires separate authorization; no unauthorized modification.”

EN; many translations. Select the authorized 25-item, one-sided form. Impact supplements and administrative additions can push the administered packet above 30 items. Embedding it in software is a separate, paid-permission case (see the trap list).

    Form
  • Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) Free, with conditions 12 items, about 3-4 min

License: “The MSPSS is free to use.”

EN; Spanish, Chinese, French and many other translations. The author asks users to credit Zimet and colleagues. The author states there are no established population norms; avoid inventing clinical cutoffs.

    Form
  • CRQ-A: four selected career-resource subscales Free, with conditions 12, four validated 3-item subscales items, about 3-5 min

License: “CC BY-NC 4.0: attribution and noncommercial use.”

EN verified. The complete CRQ-A has 36 items and fails the length rule; this entry concerns the named subscales only.

    Form
  • PALS Academic Efficacy subscale Free, with conditions 5 items, about 1-2 min

    License: “non-commercial use”

EN verified. NMRC states no cost. Use this established subscale (printed p. 20), not the entire manual's questionnaire collection. Confidence is not academic achievement.

    Form
  • Engagement versus Disaffection: Behavioral Engagement subscale Free, with conditions 5 items, about 1-2 min

License: “non-commercial use; no advance permission required.”

EN verified. Complete questions and response options are in the article appendix; there is no separate standalone PDF verified.

    Form
  • Revised Implicit Theories of Intelligence, Self scale Free, with conditions 8 items, about 2-3 min

    License: “non-commercial use”

EN verified. NMRC states no charge. Direction is easily reversed accidentally. Mindset change does not itself establish improved grades. Form is Appendix 1 of an author manuscript.

    Form
  • Hemingway School Connectedness subscale Free, with conditions 6 items, about 1-2 min

License: “non-commercial use; no charge. Author requests review of terms and an acceptance email before use.”

EN; Spanish, French, Chinese. Use the school subscale and age-appropriate version; the full connectedness instrument is longer.

    Form

Unique means unduplicated. Individuals should only be counted once. Unique individuals should not be counted in more than one reporting period. Individuals refer to female juvenile delinquents. Juveniles are youth at or below the upper age of original juvenile court jurisdiction. (See “juvenile population” and “upper age of jurisdiction”). Delinquent refers to a youth who has been adjudicated of committing a delinquent act. This is an act committed by a juvenile for which an adult could be prosecuted in a criminal court, but when committed by a juvenile is within the jurisdiction of the juvenile court. Delinquent acts include crimes against persons, crimes against property, drug offenses, and crimes against public order, when juveniles commit such acts. Discharged means the program participant is no longer participating in services or receiving services directly from or indirectly through your program. Program participant refers to an individual who started a program. Successful means the program participant met your program’s requirements, such as completing assessments or prescribed treatment or participating for an expected minimum duration. Prosocial behaviors refer to helping, sharing, and cooperating activities that aid others and foster positive relationships.
